Year: 1977 - 2003
Hi everyone, i've been lurking thru all the suggested servers and almost everyone was clear about their storage rules (they only host files for a certain amount of time or depending on the activity), having in mind this, and the fact that i'm the only one uploading stuff for this blog, my prioritary issue is the availability of the files the longest time possible. So, i decided to use mega. There are certain risks, and the compatibility is an issue (as far as i know, firefox users must download an extension to download from the server) but they seem to host the files for indeterminate time (If i recall correctly, if i'm wrong please let me know).
Also, hope you people can understand the lack of posts and feedback lately, i've had to deal with some personal things and the time for uploading or directly paying attention to the blog was really tiny. Hopefully everything will go on normally on these next days, so i will start reuploading some of the stuff that you people are requesting.
As ever, thanks for following.
to use mega is a better choice than DropBox!!!
ReplyDeletei'm testing Mega, and is not bad...very fast for everyone!!!
Rownerbowt,
ReplyDeleteTake as much time as you need, no worries, and no explanations needed. The quality music you provide inspires and quenches a deep thirst. You are a rare gem, and greatly valued and appreciated.

I second Rownerbowt's comment. Just glad to see you're still here. I'm loving that previous Aksak release and I'm looking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks again.
I'm sorry not to agree with the common opinion: Mega doesn't work well, very low from time to time (estimated time to download this post: 4 hours, just unacceptable). And much to say about Kim Dotcom..
ReplyDeleteI'm getting a blank screen with Firefox (and I've got the Mega add-on installed) :(
ReplyDeleteWorks wonderfully well with JDownloader though: time to download this record, less than 2 mn!! It could have been faster even, because I have my download speed capped at 2 Mb/s.
But yeah, there's much to say about KD's motives... although we can use his greed for our own purpose...
I had a blank screen too, but it's possible to take the url from the source code of the web page, then copy and paste it into Firefox (Mega addon installed). After 10 seconds, message says download completed, and then download freezzes. Must be a bug in the server.
ReplyDeleteHey! That's me who requested this one some time ago, so you make me very happy!
ReplyDeleteI hope that your personal concerns will solve and that you will be able to keep on posting great music.
Regarding the technical aspects, I had the same as Ric. So maybe Mega locks the lix.in referrer... I pasted the Mega url to Vity's FreeRapid Downloader (a great tool IMHO) and it downloaded in about 2 minutes (I'm in France).
And as long as KDC doesn't get a cent from me...
Anyway, thank you for your efforts and commitment, and for the music of course!
Any chance of fixing this so that it will download without a downloader? (All the other albums download with no problem). Thanks.
ReplyDeleteRight click on the blank web page and choose show source code, then copy and paste the Mega URL into your browser. It will work, the bug on the Mega server (slow bandwith) has been fixed.
ReplyDeleteThank you ric - worked like a dream - whole thing downloaded in 5 min. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit confused, should i keep using mega or do you guys think that i should keep looking for a better server?
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back! I think the general census here is that MEGA works pretty well for now, which I agree.
ReplyDeleteMEGA's fine with me, I don't mind using a downloader (or using the copy/paste trick). Speed is really fast :) If it's true that they keep files forever I may actually switch to MEGA as well...
ReplyDeleteI take this opportunity to ask you if you have any music by David Pajo? I'm listening to his 2005 album 'Pajo' and it's pretty good. But it's low bitrate MP3s, a Flac rip would be better.
If u want your files to be stored as long as possible, use sendfile.su
ReplyDeleteLarge bandwith, no captcha, easy to use
One of the best, I tried them all
Rapidshare seems correct too, but no experience about how long they keep the files. Cheers
Rownderbowt now you've got to clean up this place very soon, hehe
ReplyDeleteAmong many solutions which have already been developped here, I've been impressed by dropbox and the easy way to use it. Multiple downloads, speed and security, see for example http://hairybreath.blogspot.com
Works really fine
Cheers
Not only is sendfile.su only in Russian, it's also in beta stage! And the storage is limited in both time and size:
ReplyDelete-less than 50MB - 55 days
-less than 200MB - 40 days
-more than 200MB - 25 days
-total size of the files can not exceed 600MB
Hardly one of the best, most likely one of the worst! Same goes for rapidshit, there are a few recent articles about them on torrentfreak, go read them.
